What is ARKM?
ARKM is an ERC-20 token used to pay for intelligence on the Arkham platform. Arkham's core product matches blockchain addresses to the people and companies behind them, using a machine learning engine the company calls Ultra alongside human research, and exposes the results in a free analytics interface.
The token launched together with the Arkham Intel Exchange, announced on 10 July 2023: a bounty marketplace where anyone can lock funds to request intelligence about an address or entity, and researchers earn by answering. Binance ran the token sale on its Launchpad that month, 50 million ARKM at $0.05.
How ARKM works
On the Intel Exchange, buyers post bounties denominated in ARKM and researchers submit findings; the Arkham Foundation verifies submissions before payment releases. Purchased intelligence stays exclusive to the buyer for 90 days, then joins the public Arkham platform, so paid research eventually widens the shared dataset.
The exchange's smart contracts were audited by Quantstamp before launch. Alongside bounties there are auctions, where researchers sell intelligence they already hold to the highest bidder rather than waiting for a request.
ARKM supply and tokenomics
Total supply is 1,000,000,000 ARKM. At the July 2023 listing, allocations were 37.3% to ecosystem and community incentives, 20% to core contributors, 17.5% to investors, 17.2% to the foundation treasury, 5% to the Binance Launchpad sale and 3% to advisors, with 15% of supply circulating on day one.
Insider tranches were locked for the first year and then release gradually over roughly three more; ecosystem tokens unlock over five years and the foundation treasury over seven, so the full supply reaches circulation about seven years after launch, around 2030.
Who builds ARKM
Arkham was founded in 2020 by Miguel Morel, who previously co-founded Reserve Protocol. Disclosed early backers include Tim Draper, Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, OpenAI's Sam Altman, Bedrock, Wintermute and GSR, and the company reported raising more than $10 million in equity before the token launch, at a $150 million valuation in its latest round.
How ARKM is governed
ARKM is a utility token, not a governance one. Arkham the company decides the platform's rules, from what the analytics engine publishes to how the Intel Exchange operates, and the Arkham Foundation administers the verification of submissions. Holders have no vote over any of it.
What people use ARKM for
ARKM's uses follow the platform's intel-to-earn design, and they sit on both the buying and the selling side of the marketplace it powers:
- Post bounties requesting intelligence on an address or entity.
- Earn ARKM by fulfilling bounties as a researcher.
- Bid in auctions for intelligence researchers offer for sale.
- Receive incentives from Arkham's ecosystem and community programs.
ARKM risks and considerations
Arkham's product cuts against the privacy instincts of much of crypto, and the Intel Exchange drew criticism as dox-to-earn when it was announced in July 2023. The business faces both reputational and regulatory pressure around deanonymization, and platform rules can change by company decision at any time.
Token demand is tied to activity on one company's marketplace, and unlock schedules keep adding supply into about 2030. ARKM grants no claim on Arkham's revenue and no governance rights, so holders are exposed to the platform's choices without influence over them.

What is the Arkham Intel Exchange?
A marketplace for on-chain intelligence. Buyers lock ARKM as bounties requesting research on addresses or entities; researchers submit findings, the Arkham Foundation verifies them, and payment releases. Buyers keep 90 days of exclusive access, after which the intelligence joins the public Arkham platform.
Who founded Arkham and who backs it?
Miguel Morel founded the company in 2020 after co-founding Reserve Protocol. Disclosed backers include Tim Draper, Joe Lonsdale of Palantir, Sam Altman of OpenAI, Bedrock, Wintermute and GSR. The company reported more than $10 million in equity funding before the ARKM launch.
Does ARKM give me any control over Arkham?
No. It is a utility token for paying and earning within the platform, with no governance process attached. Arkham the company sets the rules of the analytics platform and the Intel Exchange, and the Arkham Foundation handles verification of submissions.
Why is Arkham controversial?
Its business is deanonymization: matching wallet addresses to real identities and selling research about them. Privacy advocates labeled the Intel Exchange dox-to-earn when it was announced in July 2023. Arkham argues it makes public blockchain data usable and that transparency deters bad actors.
What is ARKM used for?
ARKM is used for trading, portfolio rotation, or ecosystem exposure in DeFi. It ranks #22 by 24-hour trading volume among the tokens tracked on 1inch. The role of the token can vary by network, liquidity conditions, and the route you choose, so it helps to review the quote before you confirm a swap.
Which networks support ARKM on 1inch?
ARKM is available on supported networks where liquidity exists and the route can be quoted in the 1inch dApp. Support can differ by chain and current liquidity conditions, so check the token selector and live quote in the Swap flow before you trade.
How does 1inch find the best ARKM rate?
1inch compares supported routes and optimizes execution across available liquidity sources on Ethereum, splitting your order across pools when that improves the ARKM price.
How do I protect my ARKM trades from MEV?
1inch adds MEV protection in supported intent-based flows to reduce exposure to front-running and sandwich attacks, which matters most on volatile or thin ARKM routes.
