Swap CHZ at the Best Rate
CHZ is the token behind Socios.com fan tokens and the native asset of Chiliz Chain. Chiliz, the Malta-based company that runs both, issued CHZ on Ethereum in 2018 through private placements that raised about $65 million. Fans spend CHZ to buy fan tokens from clubs such as Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona, and the same asset pays gas and staking on Chiliz Chain.

About CHZ
CHZ is a token traded on Ethereum. On 1inch, the swap aggregator compares supported routes across DEX liquidity to help improve a crypto swap involving CHZ, while you keep full control of your funds in your own wallet.
CHZ ranks #36 by 24-hour trading volume among the tokens tracked on 1inch, with $310 traded over the last day. It has a market capitalization of around $124.5M, which makes it a smaller-cap asset. Ethereum is the only network where the 1inch token catalog lists CHZ.

What is CHZ?
CHZ started as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, issued by Chiliz in 2018 with a total supply of 8,888,888,888. There was no public sale: the company raised roughly $65 million in private placements that concluded on 8 June 2018, at $0.032 per token, with 3,066,666,666 CHZ going to those investors.
Its purpose is fan engagement. CHZ is the currency of Socios.com, where sports clubs issue fan tokens that grant holders club polls, rewards and experiences. Since 2023 CHZ is also the native token of Chiliz Chain, an EVM-compatible blockchain built for sports and entertainment, while the Ethereum contract remains live and bridged.
How CHZ works
Clubs partner with Chiliz to issue fan tokens through fan token offerings, and CHZ is what fans spend to acquire them. A fan token is a separate asset per club: holding it opens votes in club-run polls, badges and perks on Socios.com, while CHZ itself stays the base currency underneath.
Chiliz Chain, launched in its current form in May 2023, is a fork of BNB Smart Chain where CHZ pays gas and validators stake it to secure the network. The permissioned chain that preceded it was decommissioned, and tokens move between Ethereum and Chiliz Chain over the project's bridge.
CHZ supply and tokenomics
The original supply was fixed at 8,888,888,888 CHZ. That changed with the Dragon8 hard fork in 2024, which introduced inflation to fund validator and staking rewards: an initial 8.80% in the first year, decaying each year until it stabilizes at a 1.88% floor after year 14.
Working against the inflation, Chiliz Chain burns a portion of transaction fees in the style of Ethereum's EIP-1559, so net supply growth depends on network usage. The company documents both mechanisms in its MiCA whitepaper and its chain documentation.
Who builds CHZ
Chiliz is a company, not a DAO. It was founded by Alexandre Dreyfus and operates from Malta, running Socios.com, Chiliz Chain and the partnerships with clubs and leagues. Decisions about the roadmap, the chain and the token's economics are made by the company rather than by CHZ holders.
How CHZ is governed
There is no token-holder governance over Chiliz itself. What CHZ buys is participation in club-level decisions: fan token holders vote in polls that clubs choose to run, from kit designs to friendly-match lineups. On Chiliz Chain, validators and their delegators stake CHZ to secure consensus and earn the inflation-funded rewards.
What people use CHZ for
CHZ sits under a consumer product, so its uses are concrete: it is the checkout currency for fan tokens and the fuel of the chain they trade on.
- Buy fan tokens of clubs such as Juventus, PSG or FC Barcelona on Socios.com.
- Pay gas for transactions on Chiliz Chain.
- Stake CHZ with validators to earn rewards funded by inflation.
- Move between the Ethereum ERC-20 and Chiliz Chain over the bridge.
CHZ risks and considerations
CHZ depends on a single company keeping clubs, leagues and fans on its platforms. Fan token demand tracks the sports calendar and sentiment, and clubs can let partnerships lapse. The 2024 shift from a fixed supply to an inflationary model changed the asset's economics by company decision, and future changes follow the same path.
Two forms of the token coexist: the ERC-20 on Ethereum, which this page describes, and the native token on Chiliz Chain. They are bridged one to one, but exchanges and wallets support them unevenly, so check which form a venue expects before transferring.

What do I actually get by holding CHZ?
By itself, CHZ is the currency of the Chiliz ecosystem rather than a claim on anything. Spending it on Socios.com buys fan tokens, which carry club polls and perks. On Chiliz Chain it pays gas and can be staked with validators for rewards. It grants no vote over Chiliz the company.
Is CHZ the same as a fan token?
No. Fan tokens are separate assets issued per club, such as JUV for Juventus, and they carry the polls and perks. CHZ is the base currency used to buy them and the token that runs Chiliz Chain. Fan token prices move independently of CHZ.
Does CHZ have a fixed supply?
Not anymore. It launched with 8,888,888,888 tokens and no issuance, but the Dragon8 hard fork in 2024 added inflation to pay validators and stakers, starting at 8.80% and decaying to a 1.88% floor after 14 years. A share of gas fees is burned, offsetting part of the growth.
Why does CHZ exist on two chains?
The token launched on Ethereum in 2018, long before Chiliz had its own network. When Chiliz Chain went live, CHZ became its native gas asset, and a bridge connects the two forms one to one. The Ethereum contract remains the widely listed ERC-20.
What is CHZ used for?
CHZ is used for trading, portfolio rotation, or ecosystem exposure in DeFi. It ranks #36 by 24-hour trading volume among the tokens tracked on 1inch. The role of the token can vary by network, liquidity conditions, and the route you choose, so it helps to review the quote before you confirm a swap.
Which networks support CHZ on 1inch?
CHZ is available on supported networks where liquidity exists and the route can be quoted in the 1inch dApp. Support can differ by chain and current liquidity conditions, so check the token selector and live quote in the Swap flow before you trade.
How does 1inch find the best CHZ rate?
1inch compares supported routes and optimizes execution across available liquidity sources on Ethereum, splitting your order across pools when that improves the CHZ price.
How do I protect my CHZ trades from MEV?
1inch adds MEV protection in supported intent-based flows to reduce exposure to front-running and sandwich attacks, which matters most on volatile or thin CHZ routes.
