Swap WLD at the Best Rate
WLD is the token of World, the identity and finance project built around the Orb, a device that verifies a person is a unique human by scanning their iris. Verified users claim WLD grants through World App, and the token launched on 24 July 2023 with a 10 billion cap that holds until at least 2038. Three quarters of the supply belongs to the community allocation.

About WLD
WLD is a token traded on Ethereum. On 1inch, the swap aggregator compares supported routes across DEX liquidity to help improve a crypto swap involving WLD, while you keep full control of your funds in your own wallet.
WLD ranks #12 by 24-hour trading volume among the tokens tracked on 1inch, with $32.2K traded over the last day. Its market capitalization of around $1.2B places it among mid-cap crypto assets. Beyond Ethereum, the 1inch token catalog lists WLD on one more network.

What is WLD?
WLD is an ERC-20 deployed on Ethereum, with bridged versions on World Chain and OP Mainnet. It belongs to World, the project formerly named Worldcoin, which pairs a cryptocurrency with World ID, a proof of personhood: a person looks into an Orb, the device confirms they are a unique human without storing who they are, and they can then prove personhood to apps using zero-knowledge proofs.
The token launched on 24 July 2023. OP Mainnet was the main venue until 17 October 2024, when activity moved to World Chain, the project's own OP Stack rollup, where verified users receive their grants.
WLD supply and tokenomics
The initial cap is 10 billion WLD: 75 percent to the World Community, 13.6 percent to investors in Tools for Humanity, 11.1 percent to the team, and 0.3 percent kept as a company reserve. The token contract has no owner controls and cannot mint anything new for 15 years; from 24 July 2038 governance may switch on inflation of at most 1.5 percent a year, with a default of zero.
Community tokens unlock across 15 years, and the Foundation has stated an aspirational goal of at least 60 percent of all WLD going to users. Team and investor tokens vested over three to five years, concluding by July 2028, so circulating supply grows on a published schedule rather than by discretion.
Who builds WLD
Tools for Humanity, the company co-founded in 2019 by Sam Altman and Alex Blania, built the Orb and World App and launched the network. Stewardship of the protocol and of the community allocation sits with the World Foundation, a Cayman Islands foundation company that owns the World ID, Orb and World Chain intellectual property; token allocation runs through its subsidiary World Assets.
How WLD is governed
There is no on-chain token governance today. The WLD contract is not upgradeable and nobody holds admin keys over it; project decisions rest with the World Foundation, which has stated a mandate to decentralize decision-making over time. The one lever reserved for future governance is the post-2038 inflation switch.
What people use WLD for
WLD started as the claimable reward for proving personhood, and today it moves mostly inside World App and the mini apps built on World Chain.
- Claim recurring grants after verifying at an Orb.
- Pay and transfer inside World App and World Chain mini apps.
- Trade WLD on exchanges and decentralized venues.
WLD risks and considerations
The project's biometric model is its biggest legal exposure. Spain's data protection agency suspended Orb operations for three months in March 2024, and in May 2025 Kenya's High Court ruled the local iris collection unlawful and ordered the data destroyed. Where regulators restrict verification, the pipeline of new verified users narrows.
Supply is another axis: unlocks continue for years on the published schedule, and grants add tokens steadily. And although WLD trades on Ethereum, most user activity happens on World Chain, so the same symbol lives at different addresses on the two networks; check which deployment you are trading.

Questions? Answers.
How do people get WLD?
The primary route is verification: a person confirms they are a unique human at an Orb and can then claim recurring WLD grants in World App on World Chain. Beyond grants, the token trades on exchanges like any other ERC-20.
Is the WLD supply capped?
Yes, at 10 billion until at least 24 July 2038. The smart contract enforces that no new tokens can be minted for 15 years from launch; afterwards governance may enable inflation of up to 1.5 percent a year, and the default rate is zero.
Which countries have restricted World's iris scanning?
Spain's privacy regulator ordered a temporary halt in March 2024, and Kenya's High Court ruled in May 2025 that the biometric collection was unlawful, ordering the destruction of data gathered by the Orb there. Several other regulators have opened inquiries, so availability differs by country.
Is WLD on Ethereum or on World Chain?
Both. The canonical ERC-20 lives on Ethereum at 0x163f8c2467924be0ae7b5347228cabf260318753, while day-to-day usage, including grant claims, happens on a bridged version on World Chain. A legacy bridged deployment also remains on OP Mainnet from the network's first year.
What is WLD used for?
WLD is used for trading, portfolio rotation, or ecosystem exposure in DeFi. It ranks #12 by 24-hour trading volume among the tokens tracked on 1inch. The role of the token can vary by network, liquidity conditions, and the route you choose, so it helps to review the quote before you confirm a swap.
Which networks support WLD on 1inch?
The 1inch token catalog lists WLD on 2 networks, including Ethereum. Support can differ by chain and current liquidity conditions, so check the token selector and live quote in the Swap flow before you trade.
How does 1inch find the best WLD rate?
1inch compares supported routes and optimizes execution across available liquidity sources on Ethereum, splitting your order across pools when that improves the WLD price.
How do I protect my WLD trades from MEV?
1inch adds MEV protection in supported intent-based flows to reduce exposure to front-running and sandwich attacks, which matters most on volatile or thin WLD routes.
