What is WLFI?
WLFI is an ERC-20 token whose stated purpose is governance of the World Liberty Financial protocol: proposals and votes, not equity, dividends or a claim on revenue. It began life non-transferable. Buyers in the 2024 and 2025 sale rounds received voting rights but could not sell, move or trade the token until a community vote switched transfers on.
World Liberty Financial itself is a decentralized finance venture closely identified with US President Donald Trump's family. Its main working product is USD1, a dollar stablecoin announced in March 2025 and live the following month, backed by dollars, Treasuries and money market funds, with the reserve yield kept by the company rather than paid to holders.
WLFI supply and tokenomics
The initial supply is 100 billion WLFI: 33.893 percent to token sales, 32.6 percent to community growth and incentives, 30 percent to a co-founder allocation held by DT Marks, AMG and WC Digital Fi, and 3.507 percent to the team and advisors. Two public rounds priced at $0.015 and $0.05 sold 25 billion tokens and raised about $550 million between October 2024 and March 2025.
The July 2025 tradability vote unlocked only part of the early supporter allocation; the rest, and the founder, team and advisor tranches, stayed locked pending further votes. About 24.66 billion tokens were reported circulating when trading opened on 1 September 2025. Since a September 2025 vote, fees from the project's own liquidity positions on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana buy WLFI on the open market and send it to a burn address.
Who builds WLFI
The venture surfaced in September 2024 with Donald Trump and his sons as its public faces, and the token design reserves its largest single allocation for their affiliated entities. Day-to-day operations sit with a private company rather than a foundation, and that company also runs USD1, whose reserves generate the interest income that funds the business.
How WLFI is governed
WLFI voting runs through the project's governance portal, one proposal at a time. The vote that made the token tradable closed on 16 July 2025 with 99.94 percent support from roughly 20,900 voters, and the buyback and burn vote passed that September with about 99.8 percent. Outcomes so far have been near unanimous.
The project's gold paper also reserves emergency powers: in a material adverse event, control can vest entirely in company multisigs. The team has used its blacklist function without a holder vote, so governance rights operate inside limits the company sets.
WLFI risks and considerations
WLFI concentrates several risks in one asset. The contract includes a blacklist that can freeze any address without a holder vote, and in September 2025 the project blacklisted 272 accounts, among them a large position held by Tron founder Justin Sun, who publicly disputed the freeze. Most of the supply also remains locked, so future unlock votes can expand the tradable float.
The token's identification with a sitting US president cuts both ways: political developments, litigation and regulatory scrutiny can move the project independently of anything on-chain. And because WLFI confers only voting rights, its worth depends on that governance staying meaningful.

Who is behind WLFI?
World Liberty Financial was co-founded by Donald Trump and members of his family, whose affiliated entities, DT Marks, AMG and WC Digital Fi, hold the 30 percent co-founder allocation. A private team runs operations and the USD1 stablecoin, while WLFI holders vote on governance proposals.
Why was WLFI not tradable at first?
The token was sold as a pure governance right, locked to the buyer's address. Transfers required a community vote, which was put forward in July 2025; it passed with 99.94 percent support, and exchange trading began on 1 September 2025 with part of the early supporter allocation unlocked.
Can World Liberty Financial freeze WLFI tokens?
Yes. The contract carries a blacklist function the team controls, and it has been used: in September 2025 the project froze 272 addresses, including a large holding of early investor Justin Sun. A frozen address cannot move its tokens unless it is removed from the list.
What is USD1 and how does it relate to WLFI?
USD1 is World Liberty Financial's dollar stablecoin, backed by cash, US Treasuries and money market funds. It is a separate token from WLFI. The connection is economic: reserve income funds the company, and since September 2025 fees from protocol-owned liquidity finance WLFI buybacks and burns.
What is WLFI used for?
WLFI is used for trading, portfolio rotation, or ecosystem exposure in DeFi. It ranks #1149 by 24-hour trading volume among the tokens tracked on 1inch. The role of the token can vary by network, liquidity conditions, and the route you choose, so it helps to review the quote before you confirm a swap.
Which networks support WLFI on 1inch?
WLFI is available on supported networks where liquidity exists and the route can be quoted in the 1inch dApp. Support can differ by chain and current liquidity conditions, so check the token selector and live quote in the Swap flow before you trade.
How does 1inch find the best WLFI rate?
1inch compares supported routes and optimizes execution across available liquidity sources on Ethereum, splitting your order across pools when that improves the WLFI price.
How do I protect my WLFI trades from MEV?
1inch adds MEV protection in supported intent-based flows to reduce exposure to front-running and sandwich attacks, which matters most on volatile or thin WLFI routes.
